Momentum Change
The following is an opinion piece by VTLP member Travis Spencer:
On May 14th the Vermont Libertarian Party held a meeting to nominate candidates for State Rep and Senate. What happened should be a positive sign for people looking for smaller government and personal freedom. As of that evening 8 candidates in Chittenden County had been nominated with several more looking to get finalizes in the next week.
The voters will have a true opportunity to change the business as usual approach in Montpelier. If you are tired of a steady increase in spending we are your voice. If you are tired of your taxes going up year after year we are your voice. If you feel you know what is better for you than the government does we are your voice. If you don’t feel a state our size should have a $5 billion dollar budget which equates to $8,000 for every man, women and child we are your voice. The current do nothing legislature needs a wake-up call and the Libertarian Party is at the front desk.
We will fight to cut spending and lower taxes. We will fight for a better economy where employers and employees work with each other to achieve goals not look for government intervention. We will work to better the business climate and attract good jobs to Vermont and make this a state people want to move to and not from. You will be learning more about us in the months ahead but remember if you have had enough of the status quo vote Libertarian in November.
